Minot, ND

The run we started this week took me someone where I had never been.
Far northwest North Dakota, Minot to be exact.
For those of you that haven't heard of the shale gas boom in the parts, it's like the gold or oil rush of years past in history.
Minot and all points west are in a whirlwind of shale gas extraction with Williston, ND being the epicenter.
Saturday I stopped in Williston the city hardest hit by the rush.
Good fucking god. That's the only way to explain it.
Now before I completely spin out of control here, I knew a little of the crazy shit that would be witnessed.
Hos. It was so god damn ridiculous.
It confirms to me that good Conservative Christian republicans (the majority of voters here) are some of the most ruthless fuckers ever and will stand behind a book a fables to make it right with their conscience and I'll explain my reasoning in a minute but first here's the truth.
People ARE living in the parks and Walmart parking lots due to the housing.
No. Bitches they have apartments the problem is the rents.
They are so damn high the oil field workers can't afford them.
Everything is stupid. A room at any of the run down roach motels are in the upper $100 a night with some easily at $200.
From there it just spreads like fucking fire.
Even the restaurants are slow fucking these poor guys who have moved here to better themselves.
Walmart is packed and everything sells out faster than the trucks can deliver it.
I can go on and on.
So back to the good people of North Dakota.
They fucking suck. Period.
I don't have a problem with someone making a dollar but to become as fucking greedy as the oil company is another story.
Surely if the end of the world begins it will start here.
I could go on and on about the idiots I spoke with but my ADD has started to make my eye twitch so this post will wind down quickly.
Did I mention the concentration/prison camps that are properly named MAN-CAMPS?
Fuck me running.

I've been up here for two days and swear a space ship will land at any minute.
Thank you spirit in the sky I'm leaving and hope to never come back for another 48 years.

Interesting. Our town was a boom town built around the super secret Manhattan project. The famous alphabet houses were built to house them all. When we moved here in the 80s we rented half a B house and bought an E house before moving to the south end of town (for a better school).

They are beautifully built houses. Real hardwood floors, plaster walls, siding and roofs of iron. We never had to do a thing to our E house except replace one roof shingle when a huge tree fell on it during an epic storm.

I suggest someone come on over here and check out how to do a boom town properly :-)

I've learned a lot in the last few years. HOWDY!!

Is anybody out there???? Everyone has left the blogs for facebook, including me. Well I'm back for at least this post. I'm no longer driving a truck. Bill and I live in Monte Vista, a historic district within the city limits of San Antonio, Texas. Number 9 has moved to the Houston Area along with all her kids in tow. Texas was where we grew up and it appears we left for all the right reasons. Getting back to the neanderthal ways of life are a huge adjustment but trust me, I'm having a much easier time than #9. She has been bombarded by southern Baptist at every turn and it has been a trying time for her to readjust. Back in June I was hurt on the job in Ohio and required a 10 day hospital stay followed by several months of therapy. I'm just now almost back at where I began and hopefully by the middle of the new year, I'll be good as new again. Why the move??several. Oh gawd, What a week already. I did some things around the house but sleeping has become the norm, when I'm not eating. So. On the 26th, it will be one year since #9 shot across the sky in rocking light of fire. It was Friday, just about noon on that day when I whispered in her ear and ask if this was it. She said three words. I love you. Gone like that. On Friday that week she was in Phoenix at the Cancer Center of America. Walking, Talking and doing her thing. Although the news was shitty as hell and they said she would be needing to check in to hospice centers back in Texas, she walked to the airplane, flew back to Texas and walked to her car at the airport. She was a tough old broad as Mom would say. She called me on her journey home to tell me the news and what they had advised her to do. It was a tough talk but we had it.
