Oscar 2012



Ok. Look I know these are all over the place but I think it will be a shocking Oscar night for some favorites.
Best Supporting Actor
Max Von Sydow will win. I would love to see Jonah Hill pull an upset though.
Best Supporting Actress
Melissa McCarthy will win. I know my favorite and front runner Octavia Spencer is expected to win but the past years have shown that comedy films do well in this category but so do black actresses.
Best Actor
Jean Dujardin will win. He deserves it.
Now a dark horse could very easily be George Clooney and him winning it wouldn't shock me.
Best Picture
The Artist will win. Great movie. I don't think this will shock anyone. The Help is a great movie but the Academy has a history with Black movies and it's not kind.
I'm saving the best for last.
Best Actress
Believe it or not this is a three way tie in my opinion.
Glenn Close could easily win but Albert Nobbs has been lackluster at the box office and the same goes for Meryl Streep and Iron Lady so that leaves us with momentum leader at the moment, Viola Davis from The Help whose film has did well at the box office.
So what does this mean??
Meryl Streep will win.

The Academy voters have always neglected to get it right with the best Actress award.

1987 Cher over Glenn Close
1998 Gwyneth over Cate Blanchette
2005 Reese Witherspoon over Felicity Huffman
2008 Kate Winslet over Meryl Streep
And the biggest case of the Academy getting it wrong in this category?
2009 Sandra Bullock over Gabourey Sidibe in the role of Precious which proves without a shadow of a doubt they can fuck this up.
There you go Hos. Discuss.
I hope I'm wrong and The Help wins them all. It's the least they can do for robbing the Color Purple.

Maybe my hopes outweigh reality (nothing new there), but I think Viola Davis will win Best Actress. You've made a great case for Meryl Streep, though. I'm betting on Octavia for her category. Think you're right on the others. I'm ready here with my ballot to keep up with the winners. Now to tackle that word verification.

I'm betting on Dame Meryl Streep, recently given that title in my blog. I haven't seen her movie. I don't have to in order to know it is FABULOUS!

And Joy's right- I thought it was just me! Are those word verifications getting harder and harder to read?!

I've learned a lot in the last few years. HOWDY!!

Is anybody out there???? Everyone has left the blogs for facebook, including me. Well I'm back for at least this post. I'm no longer driving a truck. Bill and I live in Monte Vista, a historic district within the city limits of San Antonio, Texas. Number 9 has moved to the Houston Area along with all her kids in tow. Texas was where we grew up and it appears we left for all the right reasons. Getting back to the neanderthal ways of life are a huge adjustment but trust me, I'm having a much easier time than #9. She has been bombarded by southern Baptist at every turn and it has been a trying time for her to readjust. Back in June I was hurt on the job in Ohio and required a 10 day hospital stay followed by several months of therapy. I'm just now almost back at where I began and hopefully by the middle of the new year, I'll be good as new again. Why the move??several. Oh gawd, What a week already. I did some things around the house but sleeping has become the norm, when I'm not eating. So. On the 26th, it will be one year since #9 shot across the sky in rocking light of fire. It was Friday, just about noon on that day when I whispered in her ear and ask if this was it. She said three words. I love you. Gone like that. On Friday that week she was in Phoenix at the Cancer Center of America. Walking, Talking and doing her thing. Although the news was shitty as hell and they said she would be needing to check in to hospice centers back in Texas, she walked to the airplane, flew back to Texas and walked to her car at the airport. She was a tough old broad as Mom would say. She called me on her journey home to tell me the news and what they had advised her to do. It was a tough talk but we had it. I drove over to see her for the weekend and knew when I left Sunday I would be back on Wednesday, which i did. When I got there Tuesday she was in...
