Food Review

While on my road trip to a new job in Fargo, the chance to enjoy some famous Kansas City BarBQ came about. After carefully researching the establishments, Gates BarBQ received the final nod.

Gates BarBQ is famous in the KC area and they have a few stores spread out in the city.
The first thing you'll need to know is when you walk in to their restaurant, whoever is working the counter will immediately bark out "Hi, How may I help you please"
Ho's this got old real quick. Why? After about 20 Hi's Tugs nerves got rattled.
You had to been there.

Anyho. The menu is simple, but the one item that kept being touted as a specialty was the Burnt End Sandwich.
What is it?
The burnt ends of a brisket are saved, then chopped and placed on a bun or bread with sauce.
The Good:
Burnt ends are off the jahezzie. The Sandwich was huge and two could easily share it. I also ordered the excellent BarBQ beans which had lots of brisket cooked in.
The bad: The sauce. It only took one bite to recognize the secret ingredient. CUMIN and lots of it. Overall the sauce is typical sweet tomato based with lots of spice.
Let tug paint you a picture.
Take enchilada sauce and combine barbq sauce and bamm.
At first it was oddly different but as bites went by.
The ugly: the sauce really made me sick. If you have it lightly put on, it's tolerable.
So there you have it. The burnt ends are a contender and I would surely stop again for one but light on the sauce. Next up? Mexican food in Fargo!
So until next time,
Enjoy

Glad to know that about the sauce. That doesn't sound that good. The burnt ends do though.

Sandwiche looks awesome, and I do love the burnt ends.
